The WHY Behind THE PROMISED LIGHT Maternity Portraiture

I built The Promised Light because I have been exactly where you are. I know what a sharps container under the bathroom sink means. I know what it feels like to hold hope and grief in the same breath. I know the specific terror of pregnancy after loss, the way joy feels dangerous.

When I photograph a Promised Light session, I am not a photographer documenting a pregnancy. I am a woman who understands bearing witness to another woman’s courage.

Investment & Commission Structure

I accept a limited number of private portrait commissions each season.
Each commission is fully guided, intentionally paced, and designed to create heirloom artwork that lives beyond the moment it was created.

You have questions

and I have the answers!

A: The ideal session window is 28-34 weeks. However, we recommend applying and booking at 20-24 weeks to allow time for your Design Strategy Session, wardrobe planning, and scheduling. If you’re already past 30 weeks, don’t panic, apply now and we’ll find a date that works.

A: Your health and your baby’s health come first. Always. If complications, bed rest, or loss occur, you receive a full reschedule with no time restriction OR a complete refund, your choice. No questions asked. No documentation required.

A: You will not look awkward because you will not be left to figure it out on your own. I direct every angle of your face, every position of your hands, every tilt of your chin, every breath. Your only job is to show up. Looking extraordinary in front of my camera is entirely my job.

A: We plan your entire wardrobe together during your Design Strategy Session. I guide you on colors, fabrics, and silhouettes. You also have access to our curated studio wardrobe collection. You will not stress about this alone.

A: Absolutely. We can incorporate your partner, existing children, or even your mother into portions of the session. We plan this during the Design Strategy Session.

A: Portrait collections range from $2,500 to $20,000+ CAD. Most Promised Light clients invest between $3,500 and $8,000. Full collection details are presented at your private Reveal. Payment plans available for collections above $5,000.

A: In over 10 years, this has never happened. The combination of the Design Strategy Session (where we plan everything), professional hair and makeup, expert posing direction, and professional retouching ensures that every woman sees herself at the Reveal and is moved often to tears. These are not snapshots. They are artwork created with your specific beauty in mind.

A: Digital files are delivered within 2-4 weeks of your Reveal via secure online gallery. Physical artwork (wall portraits, albums, folio boxes) is produced by museum-quality laboratories and delivered in 6-8 weeks.
